Jimmy Cliff was a Jamaican icon
Dear Pastor,
When God said He created evil in Isaiah 45:7, it means anything opposite to the perfect will of God so as to give man a chance to make a choice between good and bad.
It's part of a declaration of God's sovereignty, but the word 'evil' is to be understood in the context of adversity, calamity, or disaster rather than moral evil. God is always good in spite of what took place during Hurricane Melissa. We simple humans don't know the mind of God, and anything He does is always right because man doesn't know the foreknowledge of God. The Bible says " who hath known the mind of God that they can instruct him." (1 Corinthians 2:16). The answer is no one. We just have to imagine, and at the end of time, when the righteous go to heaven, we will know all things. I believe and know that God's judgment is upon Jamaica.
Let me also say condolences to the family of one of Jamaica greatest icons, if not the greatest. I am one of the youth throwing pans at Carl Bradshaw, aka Hussie in the gully, and I am now in my 60s. I was to have linked with Hussie on a conference call with Jimmy Cliff in February, but procrastination was the cause, and I am so sorry we didn't make that conference call. I know Jimmy Cliff from my youthful days living in Trench Town, Kingston 12.
P.H.
Dear P.H.,
Thanks for your thoughts. That is how you see things.
Concerning Jimmy Cliff, he will be greatly missed. My favourite song that he wrote is Many Rivers to Cross. My prayers are with his family, which is a very large family.
Pastor
