Nessa B dedicates single to late mom
For reggae singer Nessa B, the success of her latest single is about far more than chart positions.
Just months after losing her mother, the singer is celebrating an emotional milestone as her single Never Change is doing well on the SpinCounts Reggae Chart, a triumph she says is dedicated to the woman who never stopped believing in her. Produced by Temps Music and Afro World Live, the uplifting single has amassed more than 1,500 radio spins across 24 stations, making it one of the chart’s strongest-performing reggae releases.
For Nessa B, however, every spin carries a deeply personal meaning. In February, she suffered the devastating loss of her mother, whose words of encouragement have become the foundation of both her music and her outlook on life.
“She constantly encouraged me with the words, ‘Believe in yourself and never give up’,” Nessa B said. “I carry those words with me every single day.”
“Losing my mother was one of the hardest moments of my life,” she continued. “She always reminded me to believe in myself and never give up. So it feels incredible to see Never Change doing so well on the charts. This is for her.”
The song’s message of resilience, self-belief and remaining true to one’s values has struck a chord with listeners, helping it build momentum across reggae radio in multiple markets. Its growing success also reflects a continuing appetite for positive, message-driven reggae at a time when inspirational music is finding new audiences around the world. Nessa B credits the achievement to the collective support of radio programmers, DJs, playlist curators and fans who have embraced the record since its release.
“This is only the beginning,” she said. “Thank you to everyone who has streamed, requested, shared and believed in Never Change. Together we’re proving that positive reggae music still has a place in the world.”
