’Baller Jashii is passionate about the sport
Dancehall artiste Mluleki Tafari Clarke, more popularly known as Jahsii, revealed his undying love for the game of football as he showcased his skills and pace at the Masters and Celebrities One Love football showpiece at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Jashii, one of dancehall's current top acts, scored one goal for Entertainers Invitational and was integral in their 8-1 hammering of Masters and Celebrities, with his flair and defence-splitting passes. The Grant's Pen native also stated that he fancies playing the game rather than watching.
"I'm a massive football fan, and me love the sport from me young and a grow. Love meaning to play it though and not fi watch it unless we deh deh live to watch it," the entertainer said.
The Born Fighter artiste who is also a lover of Jamaica's top-flight football competition, Jamaica Premier League (JPL), stated that he supports two teams but prefers the 'Stars of the East' because his favourite local footballer plies his trade there.
"We deh a most of the games that Harbour View and Arnett play because them a we two favourite teams, right now. If me affi pick one, it would be Harbour View because yuh done know seh a Koomie (Nicholas Hamilton) a my 'baller, enuh," he added.
According to the entertainer, Chelsea's Jamaica-born winger Raheem Sterling is his favourite footballer at the international level, so he will support the team he plays for. He also believes the sport of football can give inner-city residents a chance to escape their struggles and become a provider for their families.
"Any weh Sterling deh me support, straight. It (football) can do whole heap, enuh, because it can bring a next ghetto youth from the inner city to the world, expose their talent and make them become a breadwinner for them family and community. So is a great opportunity the sport create, a just fi the youth them stay focus," Jahsii stated.
He disclosed that it was a no-brainer for him to make himself available for the charity football event as giving is part of what makes him happy.
"It is very important, and once is giving I'm there. Me a give back, even before me did have, yuh get me. It's also giving thanks to the almighty that we can now give and we always want to be part of things like this, straight." Jashii stated.
