SRHA confirms protest by nurses at May Pen Hospital

The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA) is confirming that there was a protest by members of the nursing group outside the May Pen Hospital in Clarendon on Sunday. 

The STAR understands the group was protesting security concerns after a man believed to be of unsound mind threw a stone in the vicinity of the hospital’s entrance, injuring a nurse in the process. 

The SRHA says it empathises with the injured nurse and will be providing the necessary support to her.

The management team at the May Pen Hospital is presently meeting with the nursing group and other personnel to discuss how the hospital’s security measures can be tightened.
