Mom punches son’s opponent in tae kwon do match

April 20, 2023

A Corporate Area woman is to attend mediation after punching a teenage girl who was competing against her son at a tae kwon do competition.

It was shared with the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court that on March 25, the accused woman Christine Dwyer attended a tae kwon do competition at the Calabar High School. Her son was competing against the schoolgirl, who is the complainant, when Dwyer allegedly jumped over a barrier and punched her to the right side of her body. Dwyer did not enter a plea before Senior Parish Judge Paula Blake-Powell on Wednesday when the matter was mentioned. Instead, the judge referred the matter to restorative justice.

Dwyer, who is represented by attorney-at-law Odane Marston, is to return to court on May 31.
