67-Y-O shot dead in Clarendon
Jerome Bassier, a 67-year-old business man from Mckinley Heights in Manchester, was shot and killed along Decoy Road in Toll Gate, Clarendon on Tuesday.
According to the Mandeville Police, Bassier and another man were having a conversation when they were approached by two men who opened gunfire hitting them sometime after 10:00 a.m.
The police were summoned and both men were taken to the hospital where Bassier was pronounced dead, and the other man admitted for treatment.
Sources say Bassier was attacked on the site of an apartment complex he had been developing in the area.
Last Sunday, another businessman was shot and killed in Palmers Cross in the parish.
A total of 21 people were killed in Clarendon up to March 11; a 91 per cent increase when compared to 11 homicides over the 2022 corresponding period.
