Whitmore bemoans Mt Pleasant’s ‘lack of intensity’
Caribbean Cup champions Mount Pleasant Academy were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Treasure Beach FC in their Jamaica Premier League clash at St Elizabeth Technical High School yesterday, as both teams failed to convert their chances in a tightly contested encounter.
The result pushes Mount Pleasant back in fourth place on 37 points in the standings, while Treasure Beach remain 12th on 21 points.
Montego Bay United lead with 46 points, while Portmore United and Racing United are tied for second on 39 points.
Mount Pleasant's head coach Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore admitted that his team didn't play with enough intensity.
"I am not pleased with the performance and even the result. I think we could have gotten three points out of the game. However, I don't think we did enough today to even earn that three points," said Whitmore.
"We didn't play with a lot of intensity. I think in the second half, the latter part of it was probably better of the 90 minutes," added Whitmore.
Meanwhile, Kemar Ricketts, Treasure Beach's head coach, expressed satisfaction for earning a valuable point.
"It is a very important point and it is one more point added to what we already have. It is a point closer to us staying in the Premier League, so we want to collect as much points as possible. A point against the Caribbean champions is always welcome," said Ricketts.
Ricketts stated that despite missing opportunities to score, the team is improving.
"I think game by game we keep improving. I think we got some beautiful chances and would have made better decisions. Nevertheless, I am grateful," added Ricketts.
