69 new COVID cases, one more death

An 86-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew is the latest Jamaican to die as a result of COVID-19, moving the death tally to 990.

Meanwhile, of the 1,481 samples tested on Thursday, 69 returned positive results, increasing total confirmed cases to 49,179 with 20,613 active.

Of the new cases, 36 are men and 33 are women.

The country's positivity rate now stands at 8.7%.

In the meantime, there were 188 more recoveries, increasing the total to 27,201.

Some 147 persons are in hospital with 24 being moderately ill and nine critically ill.
