Stepfather held in murder of eight-year-old boy

The police have arrested the stepfather named as a person of interest in the murder of eight-year-old Galen Buchanan.

He was held in Daniel Town Trelawny during an early morning operation, the constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit has confirmed.

The man, goes by the aliases ‘Phillip Williams’, ‘Phillip Rose’ and ‘Rochester Rose’.

Buchanan was abducted, allegedly by his stepfather on Tuesday and two days later, was found dead in the Kingston Harbour.

Residents of Richie Lane off Spanish Town Road in Kingston said, the stepfather took away little Galen Buchanan after the child’s mother decided to end her romantic relation with him.

They also say the police were not proactive in seeking to find the child as cops sent them from one station to another.

On Friday morning, the child’s mother, Tamara Lewis said, since incident the stepfather has called, blaming her for what happened and offering to help with funeral expenses.
