Just about two months after welcoming his baby girl into the world in February, dancehall artiste Silk Boss says he is enjoying his fatherhood journey so far.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR, he said that it has truly been a blessing spending time with her and watching her grow every day.

"[It has been] very great," he said, adding that being around family and doing music has been the most fulfilling part of the journey.

He and his fiancee/manager are now learning to navigate the entertainment space together, while handling the responsibility of raising their daughter to the best of their abilities.

The Montegonian has released a slew of tracks that have reached the ears of dancehall lovers worldwide. His 2021 track Mankind, which currently has more than 11 million views on YouTube aided in catapulting him to stardom. Noting that the life of an artiste comes with many sacrifices and time away from family, Silk Boss whose given name is Rohan Reid, said that so far he has not needed to make too many adjustments to his life.

"I just know that I have to put in more work as an individual because I have a daughter now. So am going to work as twice as hard," he said.

Since the start of the year, Silk Boss has released several new songs including Where Silk Gone with an accompanying music video that shows snippets of his life as a new dad. He plans to keep the momentum going with more releases and says he is looking forward to eventually working on an album.

He added that releasing good music that his fans can enjoy is his way of keeping his career on track, despite controversial headlines and aspects of his personal life becoming public. According to him, since his debut a little under three years, the greatest lesson he has learned is to be cautious even with those around him. He added that it is just a matter of time before the right people catch on to him and help catapult his career to the next level.

"I don't really have a craft working on, because I have mastered my craft already. It's just the right ears and right eyes to see and hear me as an artiste," he said.
